COMMITTEE REPORTS:
ADVANCEMENTS – Ken Wright reported that Arthur Anderson is doing a great job and that everything is going well.  There was continued discussion on the number of patches that had to be purchased this year as a result of all of the hard work by the boys, the size of the troop.  Since we did not meet our Friends of Scouting goal the costs of all of the cloth badges has had to come from the troop budget.
SUMMER CAMP –.Dates for 2003: July 6-12’th,
WOOD CUTTING – Scheduled for Saturday, October 19’th which is the same day as the advanced Merit Badge Clinic and a Backpacking outing.  Boys going to Merit Badge clinic in the morning can come to Woodcutting in the afternoon.  Goal is to cut 7-8 cords.
FRIENDS OF SCOUTING – We need someone to volunteer to be the Friends of Scouting chairperson for this year.  Debbie Dubay volunteered to “kick-off” the campaign, but we will need several volunteers to help with follow-up phone calls to each troop family.
YOUTH PROTECTION COORDINATOR – We will need to schedule a Youth Protection session for next spring.  Arthur Pinkers has mentioned it to the SPL for scheduling.
WELCOME COMMITTEE – The position has been open for sometime.  After much discussion, John Monday has agreed to fill the position.
SCOUT LINE – Katie Hanzeli is no longer doing the scout line.  We need a volunteer and we need to publish information to outing leaders on how to access the scout line to put outing return information on the line.
ROUND TABLE COORDINATOR – Arthur Pinkers is attending each month.
TROOP WEBSITE-  Doug Wollen has updated the troop website with a new calendar format..  There is a potential for any item on the schedule to link to more detailed information about the activity.  The goal is to keep all troop meeting and outing information up to date on the schedule.  Debbie Dubay needs to send Doug all previous months minutes for posting on the web.
PLC REPORT –  Ken Wright reported that new elections will take place this month.  There was discussion that the troop scribe is sending information to the Patrol Leaders and Patrol Leaders are suppose to forward it to the rest of the patrol but this is not always happening.  Parent’s of patrol leaders might be able to help by gently reminding the boys of their responsibilities.
PATROL PARENT COORDINATOR REPORT –We need a  volunteer.
TROOP GUIDE/INSTRUCTOR REPORT – John Monday will holding a Junior Leadership Training (JILT) activity.  John is coordinating the activity and is targeting the training for the Nov-Dec timeframe after the new troop elections.  All interested boys should contact Mr. Monday for more information.

There were not reports for the following committees: TRANSPORTATION, UNIFORMS, FIREWOOD SALES, SCOUTING FOR FOOD, CHARTERED ORGANIZATION REP, MOM AND ME, QUARTERMASTER, SCHEDULING CHAIR, ACTIVITY/SIGN-UP BOOK COORDINATOR AND  OUTING COORDINATOR.

REPORTS ON OUTINGS /EVENTS:
The Firebird Patrol hosted an outing to Royal Basin in Olympic Peninsula.  While there, they received a copy of a Leave No Trace Video from the Park Ranger.  Contact Mr. Pinkers if you would like to borrow or view the video.

UPCOMING EVENTS.
First session for the upcoming Advanced Merit Badge clinic is on October 19’th.  The second session will be held on November 16’th.  Both sessions are scheduled from 8:30-12:00.

SCOUTMASTER’S REPORT
-Kent addressed the subject of re-instituting the Troop Support policy.  Lorie is going to plan a 2003 budget so we can estimate how much money we will need.  It was recommended that we go ahead and get the troop support need advertised and a $30.00 per scout amount be established.  If someone wants to work a minimum of half a day woodcutting, they can earn back $15.00 for four hours of work.  The troop support fee will be used to cover re-charter, insurance, cloth patches and other troop expenses.
- All phone number and address changes need to get to Kent, Shawn or Greg right away to start preparing for Re-Charter.  Patrol Dads are asked to verify the troop list and to make sure all boys are listed and touch base with those that haven’t been active for awhile to verify whether they still have an interest in being part of the troop.  We do not want to spend the money for re-charter for kids that no longer intend to participate.

OTHER BUSINESS
No addition new business was discusses.

ADJOURNMENT
Shawn adjourned the meeting at 8:45.
