TREASURER'S REPORT: Reported by Carol Malama. The beginning
balance
as of 8 January 2002 was $13,564.84. There was $9,292.50 in
income,
mostly for the Super Outing and Summer Camp. Expenses were
$1,510.69
mostly for Mountaineers, Summer Camp and the Super Outing.
The ending
balance was $21,346.65. $13,000.00 of the ending balance is
for the
Super Outing. $4,300.00 will soon be paid to Philmont. A
big chunk
will go out to the airlines sixty days before departure.
There are also
van rental and camping fees to be paid.
Some
Mountaineers money will be refunded to those who didn't come after
paying
their fee. Some of the refunds will be applied to Summer Camps
deposits. A camp deposit is due to the Council in a couple of weeks.
Bill Watson requested the use of the checkbook during the two weeks at
Philmont in August. Discussion followed. The consensus was that
we not
do it. The Committee didn't want to set a precedence. Mr.
Sather will
discuss ideas with Mr. Watson for supplying him with needed
monies for
the trip.
Carol Malama is stepping down as
treasurer. Lori Healy will be taking
her place. An audit of the
books will be scheduled in the near future.
Thank you very much from
the Parents' Committee to Carol for doing
this very important job.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Advancement: Reported by Gary Bruno.
We currently have 79 Scouts on
the roster. There were thirty to
thirty-five merit badges earned during
the last Merit Badge Clinic.
During Mr. Bruno's tenure as Advancement
Chairman, we have added 35 new
counselors from our troop to the list,
for a total of 79 in-troop
counselors.
Mr. Bruno is stepping down as advancement chair for
personal reasons. He
has spoken to the Advancement team about filling
this position. The
successor is undecided.
Uniforms:
Reported by Katie Hanzeli. Shirt and shorts supply is a
little
low. This is the time of year when uniform parts are donated and
show
up in second hand shops. Keep your eyes open and buy what is
suitable. The troop will reimburse you.
Debbie Dubay
volunteered to take over this position for Mrs. Hanzeli.
Thank you!
Friends of Scouting: Reported by Shawn Sather: Our goal
is $4,400.00.
This figure is based on the number of Scouts in the
troop and last
year's collections. It comes to approximately $50.00
per Scout. We are
$1,100.00 short. Over 50% of the cards have
not been turned in. They
must be turned in even if the pledge amount
is zero. If a family has
donated through another troop, pack, or FOS
breakfast or other event,
please tell Rhonda Sather as soon as
possible. That donation can be
credited to our troop.
Scouting
for Food: Reported by Carl Prichard. Our preferred area was
submitted at the last Round Table. This Thursday, Mr. Prichard will
pick up the details. We requested the area bounded by SE 208th St.,
Benson Highway, SE 240th St. and 132th Ave. SE. We will meet at St.
James at 8:00 am Saturday, 16 March. Hot chocolate and doughnuts will
be served before setting out, courtesy of Debbie Dubay, who will arrive
at 7:30.
There was uncertainty whether the boys could knock on
doors to pick up
forgotten bags next week. Mr. Prichard will check at
this week's Round
Table.
Mom & Me: Reported by
Dahni Logar. This event will be held the
last weekend in April at Camp
Shepherd. Dads are needed. Per Mrs.
Logar, "It will be a blast!"
Welcome: This committee needs a volunteer to chair it.
The purpose is
to take new parents aside, talk to them about the troop,
explain the
Skull & Crossbones and answer questions. The volunteer
should be a
parent that has been in the troop a couple of years.
Collecting: Reported by Mr. Sather. We couldn't remember
why this
committee was set up, but we renamed it "Quartermaster".
Scoutline: Reported by Katie Hanzeli. There is a generic
message on
Scoutline.
TLC: Reported by Ken Wright.
Three months of meetings are set. There
are some great meetings
planned. Chris Rothschilds is doing a great job
as SPL. The list
of meeting plans should go to all Patrol Leaders.
Kieran Nienow is
distributing them. The PL's need to set up a chain to
pass the list
onto others. Please speak with your PL if you want the
list and are
not receiving it. It would be a good idea to get the list
to APLs, SM,
ASMs and committee chairs. Mr. Wright is pleased with the
way things
are going.
Activity Book: Reported by Dahni Logar. More
forms are needed for the
book.
Outings: Reported by Dave
Hutchinson. He is busy working with the Scouts.
Council
Dinner: This annual dinner will be attended by Dahni & Pete
Logar, Mr. & Mrs. Shawn Sather, Greg Cannon, Gabe Hanzeli, Kent Brooten,
Dick & Susan Maloney, Chris Rothschilds and others.
There were no reports for Summer Camp, Transportation, Wood Cutting,
Firewood Sales, Youth Protection, Chartered Organization, Website,
Scheduling, Patrol Parents, or Troop Guide.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Some events are double booked because the troop is
so large. See the list.
This weekend's back pack trip is to Buck
Creek.
The dates for the April outing are 6 & 7 April, not the 9th
and 10th.
The destination is still to be decided.
SCOUTMASTER'S REPORT: Given by Shawn Sather
A new Welcome
Committee Chair is needed.
Mr. Bruno is resigning as Advancement
Chairman.
There are five or six parents attending the upcoming Wood
Badge training.
The troop will pay for 1/2 of the fee.
NEXT PARENTS' MEETING: Tuesday, 9 April 2002, 7:30 p.m.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:33 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Katie Hanzeli
