MINUTES: The minutes from the previous meeting were accepted as
written.
TREASURER’S REPORT: There was no Treasurer’s report.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Summer Camp: Reported by Don Morris.
John Monday has volunteered to
be our future Summer Camp coordinator.
Mr. Morris and Mr. Monday will
do the job jointly this year. The last
payment has been made to
council. Fifty scouts are signed up.
There are still two spots
available. We have a second campsite, in
addition to Turner: Mount
Olympus B. Physical forms, Class I
& II are required, no exceptions.
The scout must have had a physical
within the last three years.
Permission slips and conduct forms are also
required. Forms are
available at our website as well as additional
information and lists of
things to bring and not to bring. See also
the council site. The dates
are Sunday, 8 July through Saturday, 14
July. Meet at Mr. Brooten’s on
8 July at 11:00 am. There are
good merit badge opportunities at camp
along with opportunities for
Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class
rank advancements. Each scout
must earn one merit badge or ten
requirements toward a rank advancement for
us to receive Honor Troop.
Camp dates for next year will be the third week
in July at Ranger. See
Mr. Morris if you have questions.
Transportation: Reported by Mike Thompson. We will need 16 or 17
drivers to take scouts to camp on 8 July and to bring them home on 14
July.
Uniforms: Reported by Katie Hanzeli. Uniforms are
required for camp.
See Mrs. Hanzeli if you need help in getting one.
Youth Protection: Reported by Dave Crowell. Only three or four
parents
were at the parent film. Can we get another session? The
adult session
is two hours, the scout session is 1/2 hour. We are
required to show
them once a year. The council coordinator comes and
show them. We need
to reserve the time and films ahead. We’ll
try for September.
Welcome: Reported by Chris Saunders. The meeting
scheduled for the end
of June is cancelled due to
conflicts. It will be rescheduled. Two
meetings have
been held so far; one was packed. See Mrs. Saunders if
you have
questions.
Communication: Reported by Dave Heutchy. The troop
has many methods
for communicating information: Scoutline, the green
mail box, the
website (www.bsatroop474.org) , which also has on it the troop
history
and the Skull & Crossbones (to access personal information, a
password
is required), Mr. Brooten’s emails and SPL phone trees.
For particular
questions, call the committee chair.
Scoutline:
Reported by Katie Hanzeli. Call Mrs. Hanzeli if you’d like
information
put on Scout Line or to check for outing return times.
TLC: Reported
by Ken Wright. Troop meetings are currently scheduled
two months in
advance at this point. Mr. Wright explained that the TLC
is a means of
training leaders.
Mom & Me: Reported by Dave Heutchy. We have not been involved
lately
due to scheduling issues.
Troop Schedule: Available on the
website.
Troop Guide Dad: Reported by John Monday. The new boy
patrols have a
new patrol leader each month. Parents need to help
their patrol leader
scout to fulfill their duties. Each patrol has an
assistant scout
master or a troop guide overseeing the patrol and helping
the patrol
leaders to move forward with his responsibilities.
There were no reports for Advancement, Woodcutting, Firewood Sales,
Friends of Scouting, Chartered Organization, Round Table, Troop Website,
Scheduling or Patrol Parents.
SCOUTMASTER’S REPORT
Elk Feed: The rules have changed this year and
one person must be
certified as a volunteer. We need a volunteer to
figure out the
requirements and facilitate their completion. Dianne
Massey
volunteered.
Skull & Crossbones: The appendices
supposed to be on the web site are
not there. Mr. Brooten has copies
for those who want them.
Phone List: The list is now on the website.
Camporee: The boys did superbly, probably the best ever. Mr.
Brooten
didn’t attend. Awards will be presented at the next
Court of Honor.
Tyke Hike Prep: This weekend. Meet at 5:50 pm at
Mr. Brooten’s on
Friday. Departure is at 6:00 pm. A pack
inspection is required. Make
arrangements with your Troop Guide.
Taylor River: There is also a two night outing in conjunction with the
Tyke Hike Prep. See Jake Logar.
Patrol Dads: Volunteers are
needed to fill the roll of Patrol Dad (or
Mom) for the Bulls and the
Scorpions.
OUTINGS
Crater Lake: The participants made it all the way around
this year in
challenging conditions.
Camporee: See Scoutmaster’s
Report.
Mt. Rainier: The participants didn’t summit this year due to
winds,
white out conditions and snow. Another attempt will be made in
August.
Boys who are interested should contact Mr. Brooten.

coordinated the 2002 Scouting for
Food. Mr. Heutchy explained the
